Femikaze, the Bay Area’s newest sketch troupe, returns to the stage with brand new material for
A Femikaze Summer’s Eve.
As the East Bay’s premiere all-female comedy team, Femikaze brings the finest in pro-feminist, pro-funny sketch comedy, mining laughs from popular culture, politics and the quirks of being female in contemporary America.
Founded in 2011 by Kelly Anneken and Isa Hopkins, Femikaze creates opportunities in comedy for ladies of all shapes, sizes, ethnicities and orientations. After a run with “Comedy Brains” (Winner, “Best Comedy Show Remix,” East Bay Express) and San Francisco’s “A Funny Night for Comedy,” Femikaze played to sold out audiences with their shows, Night of the Living Femikaze and Femikaze History Month. The newly minted non-profit is thrilled to return to Berkeley’s Subterranean Arthouse this summer.
Femikaze boasts an all-star roster of Bay Area comedy favorites, including Kay-c Allen, Allie Blackwell, Therese Garcia, Erin Loftus, Kirsten Macauley, Natasha Muse, Evangeline Reilly, Carinne Salnave, and Zoe Salnave.
Sketches in A Femikaze Summer’s Eve include a rare glimpse of Big Bonerd, America’s favorite plus-size girl rockers, Jane Eyre’s adventures in online dating, Samuel L. Jackson’s m*ther f*cking talk show, an ad for Calvin Klein’s newest fragrance, plus performances from local comedians Nina G, Shanti Charan, Chris Burns, and Lydia Popovich.
Don’t miss this side-splitting summertime sketch show! 4 nights only—July 27 & 28, August 3 & 4 at 9 PM, with a Femikaze Fun Bucket raffled off at every show! Tickets $10 online and at the door.
